Opportunist parties called 'Bangla Bandh' : Jyoti Basu

Kolkata, Apr 18 (UNI) Veteran Marxist leader Jyoti Basu today stated that the opportunist parties have called the 'Bangla Bandh' and the CPI(M)-led Left Front will oppose it.

'' The opportunist parties have called the bandh and the Front government will oppose it, '' Mr Basu said after attending the party's state committee meeting here.

Opposition party All India Trinamool Congress(AITC) and the SUCI have jointly called the 12-hour 'Bangla Bandh' on April 21 in protest against price hike of essentials.

He said, '' We want Left unity at all levels and the discussion on seat sharing issue with the Front partners in the coming Panchayat election is going on. '' Mr Basu also admitted that there had been some problem with the Front partners in few places about seat sharing but the discussion was on to sort it out.
