Mumbai girl confesses to links with Nigerian drug smuggler
Amritsar, Apr 18 (UNI) A 20-year an girl, alleged to have close links with Nigerian drug smugglers and peddlars based in Mumbai and Delhi, has been arrested by the Special Narcotics Cell of the Punjab Police with 10 Kgs of smack, from a city hotel last night .
Police sources told UNI today that the Mumbai-based girl, Priyanka Dass a ninth class school dropout herself was addicted to drugs.
During interrogation she revealed that she had links with at least five Nigerians, who were in drug business. One of them, whom she identified as David, was currently under detention in a Mumbai jail on charges of heroin smuggling.
She claimed that she was in love with David and to fight his case in the courts she required money. So she agreed to carry the ten kg smack consignment to Amritsar, which she received from a Delhi based Nigerian.
However officers in the Narcotics Cell are not buying her 'love story' and have contacted the Mumbai police for details on the girl.
Sources said officers are also cross checking on certain reports that the girl was '' in the sleazy movie business''.
Sources said that during questioning the girl claimed that she had no knowledge of the address of the Nigerian who gave her the consignment in a busy Delhi market place. She was given a codeword and her contact in Amritsar was to use the same code to contact her in the hotel, from where she was taken into custody by the police.
However before her contact could turn up she was picked up by the police, sources said while pointing out that the arrest was made on a tip-off by a local source.
The questioning of the girl was still on and the senior officers of the Narcotics Cell held a meeting to discuss the inputs provided by the girl.
