Left and Samajwadi party to paralyse train movement on April 23
Patna, Apr 18 (UNI) The Left Front and Samajwadi Party (SP) today announced to jointly stage a dharna here on April 21 and paralyse movement of trains across the state for one hour on April 23 in protest against the price rise of essential commodities.
Former CPI MP Jalaluddin Ansari, CPM state secretary Vijay Kant Thakur and Samajwadi Party leader Ashok Kumar Gupta announced the decision for dharna and agitation in a joint press conference.
The leaders said thousands of party workers would participate in a day-long dharna near Income Tax round-about on April 21 to protest the failures of the Centre to contain the price rise of essential commodities causing hardship to the masses.
'' Our workers will paralyse the movement of trains across the state from 1000 hrs to 1100 hrs on April 23,'' the leaders said. The future course of agitation against the price hike would be chalked out if the government failed to take remedial measures,they added.
The Left and SP leaders demanded cut in custom and excise duties on edible oils and petro-products and urged the government to ensure that masses could get the essential commodities at affordable price.
'' The Centre should prepare a list of essential commodities including edible oil, pulse and rice to ensure supply to the masses through public distribution system,'' they demanded.
