Kerala HC ratifies Cooperative ordinance 2007
Kochi, Apr 18 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today upheld promulgation of the Cooperative Ordinance 2007.
Dismissing a batch of petitions filed by K J Philoh, president of the District Cooperative Bank, Kottayam, and others, challenging the ordinance, a Division Bench comprising Justices K Balakrishnan Nair and P N Raveendran, declined to interfere with the ordinance that restricted the voting rights in District Cooperative Banks only.
Observing that the representatives of the people could enact any law, subject to constitutional limitations, the Judges said the ordinance did not violate Article 14 of the constitution.
