Chambers denounce bandh culture in West Bengal
Kolkata, Apr 18 (UNI) Prominent Chambers of Commerce today came down heavily on the political parties in West Bengal for calling frequent bandhs and said the bandh culture would have a cascading impact on the state's growth and image.
In a statement here, the Chambers espressed concern over frequent strikes and asserted that it was not consonant with the new found economic dynamism in the state.
'' Not only is Kolkata reinventing itself, but the transformation is not just cosmetic and the very frame of discourse has changed and a new state and city are emerging. In this scenario, bandhs and strikes should be consigned to history as we look at new horizons with fresh hopes, '' the statement said.
The Chambers appealed to all sections to eradicate the bandh culture and spare no pains to take the state to a new high of sustainable economic and social prosperity.
