Rs 21 cr spent on sanitation for SC population

Chandigarh, Apr 16: An amount of Rs 21.63 crore has been spent under Central Rural Sanitation Programme for implementing total sanitation programmes for the Scheduled Castes population of Haryana.

Chief Parliamentary Secretary Dharamvir said under this programme 1,71,521 toilets had been constructed for Scheduled Castes and 605 community toilets for women had also been constructed so far in the state. He said during the last financial year Rs 3.17 crore had been spent on the repair and completion works of Chaupals and for repair works of Ambedkar Bhavans for the Scheduled castes and Backward classes.

Besides, on the recommendation of 12th Finance Commission, a grant of Rs 76.60 crore had been provided to the Panchayati Raj Institutions and about Rs 23 crore had been spent for the Scheduled Castes in the last financial year.
