Tension over desecration of Ambedkar portrait

Theni, Tamil Nadu Apr 14 (UNI) Tension prevailed at Kodangipatti village in Theni district of Tamil Nadu after unidentified miscreants desecrated a portrait of Babasaheb B R Ambedkar today.

Police said unidentified miscreants desecrated the portrait of Dr Ambedkar, creating a tense situation in the Adi Dravidar-dominated village. On information, senior police officials rushed to the village and held talks with the agitators and pacified them.

As a precautionary measure, armed police were deployed in and around Kodangipatti village and other sensitive pockets in the district. Police have launched a massive hunt to nab the criminals.
