NAGRIEC demands Rs 150 bonus on MSP of wheat
Chandigarh, Apr 14 (UNI) National Agro Rehabilitation Institutions Environment and consumer Forum (NAGRIEC), a Mumbai-based NGO, has urged the Central Government to announce a bonus of Rs 150 to the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs 1000 per quintal for wheat and set a procurement target of 20 million MT in order to control the open market.
Global shortage of wheat and the increase in consumption will make procurement more difficult and to avoid a repetition of past two years, where the Government of India had 'failed' to procure the required quantity, the Centre must immediately announce the bonus of Rs 150, set a taget of minimum quantity of 20 million MT and ensure to procure the same to be able to control the open market, NAGRIEC Chairman K L Gidwani said here today.
