Inter-state police officials meet to ensure peaceful polling

Chamarajnagara, Apr 14 (UNI) A meeting of police officials from Karnataka and some bordering districts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala was held today in Kollegal in the district to ensure foolproof security during the ensuing Karnataka Assembly elections.

The meeting, chaired by Chamarajnagara Superintendent of Police K V Sridhar, took stock of the situation in the state after the recent agitation against Tamil Nadu Government's proposal to take up a drinking water and hydro project in Hogenakkal.

The meeting was attended by SPs from the districts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu bordering Chamarajnagara district.

Both the Tamil Nadu and Kerala police had assured to take adequate measures to check smuggling of illicit liquor into Karnataka from the bordering districts.

Addressing the meeting, Mr Sridhar sought cooperation from the officers of the neighbouring states for violence-free polling.
