Buddhia's coach to be cremated today

Bhubaneswar, Apr 14: Marathon kid Buddhia Singh's former coach, Biranchi Das, who was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on Sunday evening, will be cremated here today.

Forty-year-old, Das is survived by his wife and a son. Commissioner of Police Binay Behera has said that three gunmen on a motor-cycle struck and pumped bullets into Das when he was coming out of his Judo Association office. After bullets hit him on his neck, chest and leg, Das was taken to the Capital Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. According to the police, an investigation is underway to find those who were behind the incident.

Das had come to the limelight after he discovered Buddhia, and groomed and coached him for a 65 km run from Puri to Bhubaneswar on May 2, 2006.
