Beans worth Rs 1.85 crore seized

Beed, Maharashtra, Apr 14 (UNI) Four thousand quintals of beans, worth Rs 1.85 crore, were seized in raids conducted on two bean mills in the district today as part of Maharashtra government's move to curb hoarding of essential commodities.

The tehsildar Santosh Venikar and his team raided Ashok Dal Mill and Keshavsaj Dal Mill, situated in MIDC Beed. 2,700 quintals of beans were seized from Ashok Dal Mill and another 1,300 quintals from Keshavsaj Dal Mill, official sources said.

Talking to UNI, Mr Venikar said, ''As per directions of the District Collector and Additional Collector, we have seized beans worth Rs 1.85 crore and tomorrow the administration will register complaints against Ashok Agarwal, proprietor of Ashok Dal Mill, and Suresh Kasat, proprietor of Keshavsaj Dal Mill.'' ''Yesterday, Georai tehsildar Suman More raided Soni Dal Mill and seized beans worth more than Rs 56 lakh'', Additional Collector Bhagwanrao Gutte said.
