Dehra Dun, Apr 12 (UNI) The state BJP is certain of grabbing majority of seats in the local elections and will raise pertinent issues like price rise in front of the electorate, party in-charge Anil Jain said.
Talking to mediapersons at the party's elections office here, Dr Jain said the BJP was hopeful of securing at least 80 per cent of the seats in the local elections, besides winning the Mayor's seat and 40 of the 60 ward member seats.
He said the party's campaign agenda this time would cover local and national problems. The party would take issues such as dearness, rise in prices of essential commodities and shortage of kerosene oil in front of the electorate, he added.
In a clear attack at the Central Government, he accused it of ignoring the state of Uttarakhand and failing in its efforts to control the looming price rise which had its repurcussions felt among the people in the state, especially the BPL families.
He applauded the Khanduri Government for checking corruption and improving tourism in the state and said it had many achievements to its credit in just a period of one year.
