Rahul to flag off Sevadal rally on July 15

Tiruchirapalli, Apr 12: Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi will flag off a cycle rally by the Tamil Nadu unit of the Congress Sevadal at Virudhunagar on July 15, the birthday of former state Chief Minister K Kamaraj.

Addressing a press conference here today, State Congress Sevadal chief organiser Kovai K Selvaraj said the cycle rally, after covering about 800 km would culminate at Kamararajar house at Chennai on August 9.

During the rally, the sevadal volunteers would explain about the Centre's schemes to the people.

He thanked the Centre for its efforts to provide 27 per cent reservation for the OBCs in higher education institutions and demanded that the government remove the creamy layer while implementing the Supreme Court order on reservation.

The first political conference of the Tamil Nadu Congress Sevadal would be held at Chennai on August 20, he added.
