Ex-union minister gives OBC reservation credit to UPA
Lucknow, Apr 11 (UNI) Applauding the Supreme Court's verdict on reservation for OBCs in higher educational institutions, former union minister and CWC invited member Anil Shastri today said the UPA government at the Centre was committed to reducing the grievances of the poor.
''The decision of providing 27 per cent reservation to OBCs in central educational institutions indicates that the UPA government wish to uplift the dalits and poor,'' Mr Shastri said.
Congratulating Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh for his hard efforts, the former minister noted, ''it is a balance step to do justice to both candidates of poor and general class.'' The OBCs should also be provided 27 per cent reservation in Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha, he added.
