Guwahati, Apr 11: Assam's tough stand against the proscribed ULFA continued with the government deciding not to offer safe passage to the outfit' s members during the Rongali Bihu.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said on April 10 that the government had not taken any decision to offer safe passage to ULFA cadres till now. He was reacting to media reports that the militants would be given permission to visit their homes during the Rongali Bihu festivities, coinciding with the Assamese new year, next week.

The government had on previous occasions offered the ULFA rebels safe passage during the festival, but this departure from the old practice is construed as reflection of the government's tough stand against the outfit.
