Kylie speaks of her 'respect' for doctors after cancer revelation

London, Apr 10 : Kylie Minogue has stressed her admiration for the medical profession after revealing that the first doctor she saw misdiagnosed her breast cancer.

The 'Wow' singer had said on US TV that the first doctor she saw in 2005 failed to spot she had breast cancer.

Speaking to talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, the Aussie pop star warned women not to blindly trust their doctor's opinion.

But in a statement, the 39-year-old said that she had great amount of respect for the medical profession.

"I have a great respect for the medical profession," BBC quoted her, as saying.

Minogue also thanked "the countless people who have helped me" since she was diagnosed.

She said: "I am in the very best of hands now, but it is a fact that my initial diagnosis was that I was 'alright, and had nothing to worry about'. A few weeks later this was clearly not the case."

"Early diagnosis and prompt treatment is the key for any woman diagnosed with breast cancer," she added.
