Narcotics smugglers sent to police custody till Apr 11

Phagwara Apr 9 (UNI) All three international narcotics smugglers, who were arrested by Phagwara Police along with ten kg of heroine on April 7, were today produced in a local court which sent them into police custody till April 11 for further investigation.

Phagwara DSP Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh said these accused were being sent to Joint Interrogation Centre Amritsar for further interrogation.

Meanwhile SSP Kapurthla Rakesh Aggarwal has announced a reward of Rs One Lakh for entire police party engaged in the arrests of these international smugglers.

Talking to UNI here this evening, He said that a cash award of Rs 10,000 was given to the police party yesterday while Rs One Lakh award has been recommended for them.

Replying a question, the SSP said that police will soon identify the kingpins of this International Gang who were operating on the fake names of Gill and Babbu from foreign countries.

The SSP said that these two would be deported from the countries from where they were running Narcotics and Currency Smuggling rackets.

On the other hand, DSP Khakh told UNI that the arrested Paramjit Singh alias Pamma, was facing nine different criminal cases registered against him at various places.

The other smuggler Kashmir Singh was an active member of Babbar Khalsa International and was facing about one dozen cases,while the third accused Vijay Kumar was an activist of Hawala Racketers and was operating Hawala racket from his own Jewellery Shop in Jalandhar.

DSP told that the money received by the smugglers after selling Narcotics including heroine was being given to one Vijay Kumar who distributed among the persons on the orders of his bosses residing in foreign countries who were operating Narcotics smuggling and Hawala Rackets simultaneously.

Many more disclosures were expected, said DSP Khakh.
