Nagaland Governor impresses on role of women in society

Kohima, Apr 9 (UNI) Nagaland Governor K Sankaranarayanan has said that in the present world, women are in the forefront in all activities and that the cultural arena is particularly marked by their contribution.

Inaugurating the two-day regional seminar on the ''Role of Women in Preservation of Cultur'' at the North East Zonal Cultural Centre (NEZCC) at Dimapur yesterday, the Governor said that the women were the pivots of family life and in all societies and communities.

''Culture is imbibed into children through women. The contribution of women in preserving our cultural heritage needed to be given due recognition as at times people tend to ignore things that are seemingly regular,'' he said.

Lauding the NEZCC for greatly contributing in preserving the cultural heritage of the North East States, the Governor, who is also the Chairman of the NEZCC, hoped that the seminar would bring to focus the role of women in preserving the culture of not only the Northeastern states, but also the entire nation.
