Top Hizb militant killed in Doda, J

Jammu, Apr 8 (UNI) A Pakistan-trained 'divisional commander' of Hizb-ul Mujahideen (HM) outfit was gunned down by security in an encounter at Gandoh in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, a defence spokesman said today.

''Dreaded HM militant Ghulam Hussain Wani, alias Shamin Thool, was shot dead by the troops of 26 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and the state police at Jhakyas village of Gandoh,'' Lt Col S D Goswami told UNI.

The militant was active in the hilly district for the last 16 years, and the security forces were carrying out searches for him in the area, he added.
