National integration youth camp at Aizawl
Aizawl, Apr 8 (UNI) Governor Lt Gen (rtd) M M Lakhera today said the role of maintaining the hard-earned peace in Mizoram is in the hands of the youth.
Inaugurating the four-day National Integration Youth Camp 2008 at the State Training Centre at Tanhril here, he traced the days of insurgency in Mizoram.
''The future of our country rests on the integration and unity of our people, our ability to preserve our rich heritage and our willingness to support each other. Be proud to be an Indian and remember that we must always do our best for our land,'' the Governor said.
National Youth Project Director S N Subba Rao, in his key-note address spoke about his earlier enriching experiences through similar camps they had organised in different states of India.
The camp is being organised by the National Youth Project.
The National Integration Youth Camp would close on April 12.
Altogether 257 delegates have come from 19 states--Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Delhi, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Manipur, Mizoram, Pondicherry, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Orissa, West Bengal and Uttaranchal.
Mizoram Sports and Youth Services Director Zoliana Royte welcomed the delegates.
