In-laws booked after woman commits suicide
Phagwara, Apr 8 (UNI) Police today registered case against in-laws of a newly-wed woman here who was allegedly forced to commit suicide by consuming poison due to torture for dowry.
In his complaint, Rattan Singh of village Nangal, father of deceased Baljit Kaur, had alleged that his daughter, married to Driver Puran Singh on October 14 in 2007 of village Charran, was being tortured to bring more dowry.
Rattan Singh alleged that few days back his daughter informed that her-in-laws were demanding one motorcycle.
Baljit allegedly committed suicide early today but they were informed by her in-laws much later, he alleged.
Phagwara DSP Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh told newspersons here that police have registered a case under section 304B against her father-in-law Mahiinder Singh, Brother-in-law Kashmira Singh and mother-in-law Rajwant Kaur, but no arrest has been made so far.
Police has sent the body to civil hospital for postmartem.
