Two killed,30 Vaishno Devi pilgrims injured on way to Hathras

Phagwara, Apr 3 (UNI) One pilgrim and driver of a bus returning from Vaishno Devi to Hathras in Uttar Pradesh, were killed while more than 30 piligrims sustained injuries, 17 of them seriously, when a private tourist bus coming from the hill shrine, overturned early today near village Khatti on Phagwara-Hoshiarpur road.

Soon after the accident, which apparently occurred due to the driver falling asleep, local residents rushed to the rescue of accident victims and 17 seriously injured passengers were taken to local Civil hospital.

The driver, Partap Singh and a pilgrim identified as Mukesh (25) of Uttar Pardesh, died on the spot, police said.

Senior Medical Officer Dr Kailash Kapoor said the condition of all the 17 injured, including nine women and two children, was stable.

The deceased were identified as Bus Driver.

All were returning to Hathras in Uttar Pradesh after visiting the shrine of goddess Vaishno Devi in Jammu.

Police has registered a case.
