TN Co-operative Bank employees' to observe fast on Apr 4

Chennai, Apr 3 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Co-operative Bank Employees' Association (TNCBEA) has called upon the Co-operative Bank employees in the state to observe a fast tomorrow to press their long-pending demands.

The fast is to express solidarity with the All India Co-operative Bank Employees' Federation (AICBEF).

Talking to newspersons here today, TNCBEA General Secretary P Balakrishnan said ''employees' representatives from all co-operative banks such as State Apex Co-operative Bank, District Central Co-operative Banks, Urban Co-operative Banks, Agriculture and Rural Development Banks and Primary Agricultural Co-operative Banks would participate in the fast.

''Our demands include exgratia pension for retired employees, alternative pension scheme for employees who would retire from April 1, 2008, repealing of the Amendment brought to Section 80 P of the Income Tax Act and refinancing of the State Co-operative Banks up to 80 per cent of the crop loan disbursement at 2.5 per cent interest,'' he pointed out.

He said these demands would be reiterated by the fast to be observed in all district headquarters and in Chennai it would be held in front of the Chennai Collectorate office.
