Rally, public meeting bring down curtain on CPI(M) Congress
Coimbatore, Apr 3 (UNI) The CPI(M) cadres today took out an impressive rally marking the culmination of the six-day 19th party Congress here.
A part of this textile city turned red as more than 10,000 Red volunteers took out a rally carrying 19 party flags, signifying the 19th Congress, and a march past in the style typical of Left party.
Party Politbureau member Sitaram Yechuri flagged off the rally, which began with a performance by 13 cultural groups.
General Secretary Prakash Karat and other senior leaders, including West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan, PolitBureau member Brinda Karat witnessed the rally from a specally erected dias.
Men and women commrades came from various parts of the country to take part in the rally, displaying perfection and discipline. The rally culminated in a public meeting at VOC ground after traversing a distance of 3 KM.
