Kochi, Apr 3 : People of Kerala, who normally are used to plenty of rice, vegetables and fruits, are badly affected by inflation.
The state is a consumers state and all the necessary items are imported from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. "Surely, the price rise has affected our entire family. It is worse in the families where there is only a single earning member," said P.V. Raghu, a consumer. E.B. Mathew, a retired employee said, "Normally, we used to spend 1500 rupees a month for our essential monthly commodities. For the same things, we are now paying rupees 2300 or more."
The same situation is facing by the sellers in the market.
"It affects the entire market and specially the buyers in the market as they have to spend a huge amount to get their needs. This will hit our sales as well," said T. Sasi, a wholesaler in the Broadway Market.
