One dead, two injured in Siliguri blast

Siliguri, Apr 3: One person was killed and two were seriously injured in a blast near the Siliguri circuit house at Samarnagar under Champasari area here today. Deputy Superintendent of Police Pradeep Kumar said the blast went off at about 1300 hours in a rented house with a tin roof.

The victims were rushed to a local hospital. While one died on way to the hospital, the condition of the two injured was critical, Mr Kumar said, adding that they had not been identified so far. He also said a bomb disposal squad of the CID had rushed to the spot to ascertain the kind of explosion. Initial reports stated that the blast was caused when a gas cylinder exploded. The entire area had been cordoned off, police said, adding that investigation was on.
