Tata to make environment-friendly car

Bangkok, Apr 2: Thailand's Board of Investment (BoI) today approved a proposal by Tata Motors to manufacture fuel-efficient cars in the country. Tata Motors will invest 7.3 billion Baht in setting up a manufacturing facility on an industrial estate in eastern Thailand to produce 100,000 'eco- cars' annually.

More than half the number of Tata eco-cars made in Thailand will be exported to other countries in the Asia-Pacific region as well as to South Africa.
The BoI also today approved similar proposals by leading Japanese automakers Mitubishi and Toyota who will together produce about 200,000 eco-cars annually in Thailand.
