NER students, officers meet called for setting legal asst centre
New Delhi, Apr 2 (UNI) In a step towards establishing a Legal Assistance Centre for the women of the North East Region (NER) living in Delhi, Delhi High Court Chief Justice M K Sharma today convened a meeting of the student leaders and government officers of north-east states.
The announcement of setting up the centre was made by the Chief Justice on February 18 on the occasion of the nine-day National Conclave of North Eastern States for Access to Justice to Women from the region.
In the meeting, Justice Sharma, who was also the patron in chief of the Delhi Legal Services Authority, announced that a bureau of the NER under the Delhi Legal Services Authority would be opened at the Patiala House Complex for taking up quick remedial measures for any grievances like harassment and molestation of the women from the NER living in Delhi, a Manipur goverment release said.
