School bus overturns in Gujarat, one student dead

Ahmedabad, Apr 2: At least one student of the Delhi Public School (DPS) died and 35 others were injured, seven of them critically, when their school bus overturned near Shilaj cross road on western outskirts of the city this morning.

The accident occured when the driver of the school bus lost control over steering wheel in an attempt to overtake a truck at 0730 hrs, police said. The bus was carrying 45 students to the school premises located at Bopal near Sanand, about 25 kms from here, police said. Of the total injured, 14 were admitted at the SAL Hospital in Drive-in area, another 10 students were rushed to Kesar SAL hospital located opposite Science City on Sarkhej-Gandhinagar highway, while the remaining 11 were moved to the Sola Civil Hospital on Sarkhej-Gandhinagar highway. Parents and relatives of the students thronged to all the three hospitals to know the condition of their loved ones.
