Tension at airport over non-arrival of body

Thiruchirapalli, Mar 31 (UNI) Tension prevailed at the international airport here today when a section of the people got agitated over the non-arrival of their relatives body from Dubai by an Air India flight.

Airport sources said one Udrudeen (54) of Nagore near Thanjavur who was working as a mechanic in Dubai died due to illness on March 27.

Thahai Meeran, son of the deceased who was also working there, booked his father's body for transporting it to Thiruchirapalli airport yesterday on the Sharjah-Chennai via Thiruchirapalli Air India flight in which he was also to fly.

When they reached here, they came to know that the body did not reach. Meeran and the other relatives who came to recieve the body got agitated and shouted slogans against the Air India authorities.

The Air India authorities intervened and contacted their counterparts in the Sharjah airport and confirmed that the coffin was still there.

They assured the agitated relatives that the body would be taken to Chennai from Sharjah by a cargo flight this evening, the sources added.
