Hundreds attend prayer to protest molestation of nuns

Mumbai, Mar 31 (UNI) Hundreds gathered for the inter-faith ''Prayer Protest'' and candlelight march here, organised by the Catholic Secular Forum (CSF), to protest the recent molestation of nuns at Sahangoti village.

Condemning the violence at the protest meet yesterday, which was attended by the city's nuns, and members of Christian, Sikh and Muslim communities, District Minorities Welfare Committee member John Dias said, ''The recent attacks on nuns and Christians in Sahangoti village near Alibag in Raigad district is not to be seen in isolation, but rather as part of an alleged sustained campaign by Hindu fundamentalists.'' ''There seems to be a season of violence against the Christians.

There is no justification in violence against nuns and women. What are the various commissions and ministries doing, I wonder,'' National Integration Council of India member John Dayal told UNI.

He said the CSF would convey their protest to political leaders in New Delhi, the UN Human Rights Commission and BJP leader L K Advani.
