BJP in favour of Constitutional amendment: Advani

Jaipur, Mar 31 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha L K Advani today said the BJP was in favour of Constitutional amendment for fixing the term of the Lok Sabha and State Assembly for full five years.

Addressing the BJP Rajasthan State Executive here, Mr Advani said the BJP wanted that there should be a constitutional binding for allowing the Lok Sabha and the State Assemblies to complete their full terms of five-year and the elections should be held only on due time.

However, in the prevailing political scenario, this was not going to be realised in the near future and the present phase of frequent elections in the country would continue, he said.

Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Jaswant Singh and BJP state president Om Prakash Mathur also addressed the inaugural session of the two-day executive meeting. Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje was also in attendance.
