Farmers gherao police station over dacoit's escape

Amroha, Mar 30 (UNI) Thousands of farmers today 'gheraoed' Dhanora Mandi kotwali over the alleged release of a dacoit by police in Jyotiba Phule Nagar district.

On March 26, the dacoit had barged into Rampura Khadar and Vandra farm and robbed lakhs of rupees, police said.

The local farmers had later grabbed the dacoit and handed him over to police.

However, on getting the information that the accused had ran away, the farmers protested outside the kotwali blaming the police for the formers escape.

Meanwhile, Police Superintendent Beena Bhukesh said investigation into the matter was on.
