Woman Oraganisation condemns rally against lady Marshal
Bhubaneswar, Mar 29 (UNI) Ms Rituparna Mohanty, Secretary of Sanjeevi, an organisation working for the cause of women, today threatened to lodge an FIR and move court for depicting Orissa Assembly Lady Assistant Marshal Gayatri Panda as a ''characterless'' woman at a rally in Puri yesterday.
Talking to newspersons here, Ms Mohanty said the posters were shown by various electronic media which also appeared in print media.
She described it as a national shame and an insult to women.
Ms Gayatri Panda was in the news after she complained of sexual harassment by Speaker Maheswar Mohanty.
She also lodged a complaint in this regard in the Mahila Police station.
Ms Mohanty demanded the Speaker to resign on moral ground and an impartial inquiry into the whole issue either by CBI or by a Supreme Court judge.
She criticised the Chief Minister for protecting the Speaker despite an FIR being lodged against him.
On the police refusing to accept the complaint as FIR, the social activist said as per the law an FIR could be made either by post, telephone or e-mail.
She threatened to move court in the first week of April if police failed to register a case on the basis of complaint, filed by Ms Panda against the Speaker.
