NHPC signs MoU with Power Ministry

New Delhi, Mar 29: State-run National Hydroelectric Power Corporation Ltd (NHPC) today said it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Power Ministry to generate 17,010 million units of energy during 2008-09 and touch the sales of Rs 2,500 crore during the year.

''In order to achieve the excellent rating for 2008-09, a challenging target to generate 17010 million units of energy has been set for the Corporation. The target for capacity index has been set as 95 per cent and the Gross Sales has been kept as Rs 2,500 crore,'' company said in a statement.

The MoU was signed by Power Secretary Anil Razdan and NHPC Chairman and Managing Director S K Garg yesterday. For the first time, Enterprise specific parameters like safety, environment protection measures, certification for carbon credit, expenditure on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) schemes, and E-procurement have been included in the MoU, the statement said.
