Suvarna to launch 24 hr Kannada news channel from Mar 31

Bangalore, Mar 28: 'Suvarna Channel' of Asianet Communications Limited will launch 24-hour Kannada news channel from March 31, Chief Operating Officer K Sanjay Prabhu said today.

Talking to newspersons here, he said the Channel would be packaged with an International look and feel. The Channel's philosophy was captured in the fogline 'Nera, Ditta, Niranthara' (Straight, Bold and Continuous) and aimed at producing qualitative news experience in Kannada television.

Mr Prabhu said about Rs 110 crore had been invested so far.

The Chief of News, Sridhar Bhatt, said during the last one year of establishment, the channel had functioned impartially in news production and it would continue to do so. ''Suvarna news stands for transparent and unbiased journalism. Advanced visual and digital effects would provide for an unmatched quality viewing for the first time in Kannada television medium'', he added.

Mr Bhatt said there will be programmes of 30 minutes duration in each field, including Agriculture, Sports, Art, Drama and Social life.
