SC rejects PIL seeking suspension, prosecution of P P Sharma
New Delhi, Mar 28 (UNI) The Supreme Court today refused to entertain a PIL seeking prosecution and suspension of former Jharkhand Chief Secretary P P Sharma.
A bench, comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan and Justice R V Raveendran told Prashant Bhushan, counsel for the petitioner, the Centre for Public Interest Litigation that he should approach the concerned trial courts or the state High Court for the relief he is asking for.
P P Sharma has already been removed from the post of the Chief Secretary and is presently posted as Director Administrative Staff Training College.
Mr Bhushan contended before the court that the man who defrauded the state of crores of rupees has not been suspended and the criminal trials are not making any progress, for example, in cases of cheating and forgery pending since 1991, the cognizance to which has not been taken.
The petitioner has also asked for a CBI inquiry against those officers and politicians who have been protecting Mr Sharma.
