High Court lawyers to go on three-day strike from March 31

Patna, Mar 28 (UNI) Lawyers of Patna High Court will go on a three- day strike from March 31 to protest the hike in court fees.

On first day of the strike, lawyers of the High Court, Patna Civil Court, City SDO Court and Danapur SDO court will take out a protest march to the state Assembly in support of their demand.

The decision was taken at a meeting of Coordination Committee of Bar Associations, Lawyers Association and Advocates Association of Patna High Court held here today.

Convenor of the Coordination Committee Yogesh Chandra Verma said a delegation of the lawyers will also meet the Bihar governor to seek his intervention into the matter.

Meanwhile, former Chairman of the Bihar State Bar Council Rajendra Prasad Singh said the association would be forced to take an extreme step if their demands were not met by March 2.

He said it was ironical that the fee for filing a writ in Delhi was only Rs 65, while it had been raised to Rs 500 in Bihar.
