EC announces poll schedule for biennial elections to Bihar, UP LCs
New Delhi, Mar 28 (UNI) The Election Commission (EC) today announced biennial elections to the State Legislative Council of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh from Graduates and Teachers' constituencies will be on April 28 this year.
According to an EC notification issued here today, the term of office of 20 members, ten each from Graduates and Teachers constituencies, would expire on May 6 due to retirement of the sitting members, making the elections necessary.
The notification will be issued on April 2. The last date for making nominations is April 9, the scrutiny would be taken up on April 10, and the last date for the withdrawal of candidature is fixed for April 12.
The counting of votes would be taken up on April 30.
The date before which election would be completed is May 5.
Out of those, eight seats would be from the Bihar legislative Council, (four each for the Graduates and Teachers constituencies) while there are six each in case of UP, the notification added.
