CM misleading Delhites on issue of water supply: Delhi BJP

New Delhi, Mar 28 (UNI) BJP Delhi Pradesh President Harsh Vardhan today said Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit is misleading the people of Delhi on the issue of water supply.

''Haryana has not released water for Delhi. The Chief Minister claims that the position of water supply is normal whereas more than 50 per cent of Delhi is craving for even a few drops of water,''the Delhi BJP chief said.

He said crores of innocent citizens of Delhi are suffering due to the fight between the Congress Governments of Delhi and Haryana.

People are not getting water even after paying higher water bills.

''The water level of Yamuna in Delhi has decreased from 674.5 ft.

to 672.5 ft. Due to this the Water Treatment Plants at Wazirabad, Haiderpur, Chandrawal and Nangloi are producing water only half of their capacity,''he said.

He said some days ago the Chief Minister and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh claimed that they had talked to the Haryana Government on the issue of scarcity of water.

''The Prime Minister and Chief Minister have misled the people by telling a lie. Had water been released then the water level of Yamuna could have crossed the normal level. Here the water level has gone down by two ft. This is the reason why more than half of Delhi are living without water,''Dr Harshvardhan said.

He said MS Dikshit who is also the Chairperson of Delhi Jal Board had said that if Haryana does not release water then she will go to the Supreme Court.

''Haryana has been trying to deny water to Delhi for the last 15 days. In spite of this the Chief Minister is silent. She has not gone to the Supreme Court for the people of Delhi as promised by her,''he said.
