AIADMK seeks revoking of GO on property tax
Chennai, Mar 28 (UNI) The Opposition AIADMK today urged the Tamil Nadu Government to immediately withdraw the Goverment Order, hiking property tax, warning of direct action.
In a statement here, AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa condemned the steep hike in property tax for residential houses, industrial and business establishments in corporation, municipal and panchayat limits with effect from April one.
Stating that the previous Karunanidhi regime had hiked the property tax for buildings in corporation and municipal limits and introduced the tax in panchayats, she claimed that her Government had not hiked the tax in 2003, keeping the concerns of the common people in mind.
She alleged that the DMK Government, without taking up any public welfare works, was burdening the people in the name of periodical hiking of property tax.
