Treasury demands resignation of an Opposition member in J'khand

Ranchi, Mar 26 (UNI) Demanding resignation of an Opposition member for making adverse remarks against Assembly Speaker Alamgir Alam through an article published in a local Hindi daily, the Treasury bench today created a ruckus in the House.

Raising the issue at the beginning of question hour, Human Resources Development Minister Bandhu Tirkey said the article written by Saryu Rai (BJP) was an attempt to malign the Chair and thus censure motion should be moved against the Opposition member.

Deputy Chief Minister Stephen Marandi said making comments on Speaker was against the democratic system and the member concerned should resign if he lost faith in the Chair.

'' It has happened for the first time in the history that a Legislator has expressed lack of faith in the Chair, '' Mr Marandi said.

Mr Marandi also said Mr Rai had proposed for no confidence motion against the Speaker, but it had already been rejected and again making such remarks was unfortunate.

Mr Pradeep Kumar Balmuchu and Sukhdeo Bhagat (both Congress) demanded to move censure motion against Mr Rai.

Meanwhile, referring to another issue, Mr Marandi informed the House that book containing adverse comments against state's freedom fighters had been banned by the government.

A few days ago the Opposition disrupted House proceedings, raising this issue.
