Police contable dies, 8 injured, school gutted in Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 26 (UNI) A constable of Jammu and Kashmir police was killed and eight others wounded while a school building and four houses were gutted in the Kashmir valley overnight, official sources said today.

Police constable Muhammad Abas Khan was injured critically when his motorcycle was hit by a vehicle at Nunar in Ganderbal district. He was immediately rushed to hospital where he died.

The sources said eight persons were injured when a vehicle in which they were travelling over turned turtle at Gassipora in Anantnag district.

The injured were hospitalised, they said.

Fire broke out in the government middle school at Wachi in south Kashmir district of Pulwama last night. The school building was completely gutted before fire tenders could reach there, they said.

Four houses and other structures were gutted at Magam and Padshahi Bagh. The cause of the fire was not known, they said, adding no one was injured in the incident.
