New APCC President to assume charge tomorrow
Hyderabad, Mar 26 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Higher Education Minister D Srinivasa Rao would assume charge as the new Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President tomorrow at the party head office Gandhi Bhavan here.
Talking to newspersons here, he said he would strive for the victory of the Congress in the coming general election in 2009. He thanked the AICC President Ms Sonia Gandhi, her political Secretary Ahmed Patel, party incharge Veerappa Moily and the Chief Minister for giving him an opportunity to serve the party in the crucial elections.
Mr Srinivas, earlier arrived from New Delhi after his name was declared as the party Chief of the State to the city and met the Chief minister YS Rajasekahra Reddy.
Mr Srinivas was appointed as the PCC President in August 2003 and served as the party chief till he was inducted in the state cabinet after the Congress came to power in 2004 election.
He played an important role in making pre-poll alliance with the Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS) before the 2004 election.
