Dalmiya arrested, granted bail
Mumbai, Mar 26 (UNI) Former Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Jagmohan Dalmiya was today arrested and immediately granted bail upon furnishing Rs 25,000 in the funds miasppropriation case filed against him by the BCCI here.
Earlier, Dalmiya presented himself before joint commissioner of police Rakesh Maria. He, accompanied by his lawyers, presented himself at the Mumbai police headquarters around 13:30 hrs.
The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai police have investigated the matter and are likely to file chargesheet against him, his secretary K M Chaudhary and Gautam Dutta in the metropolitan court for their alleged involvement in the over Rs 2.9-crore fund misappropriation case during the 1996 World cup. The BCCI had lodged a complaint with the Marine Drive Police here against Dalmiya and others on March 16, 2006.
