State to introduce new scheme to fight forest fires
Mumbai, Mar 25 (UNI) Maharashtra government will introduce a new scheme and also a helpline number to fight the problem of forest fires in the wake of recent fire incidents in the state.
Announcing this in the legislative council today, Minister of State for forest Babanrao Pachpute said that a satellite will also be installed in this regard so that the department can come to know about the fire and its cause immediately.
He said that the forest department will have its own fire fighting equipment and a fire bridge to speedly control the fire.
The decision came after Ms Neelam Gore of Shiv Sena and others demanded a solution to the problem of forest fires, after the recent fire incidents at Aurangabad and other parts of the state.
