Rashtriya Krantiveer Award for Medha Patkar
Ujjain, MP, Mar 25 (UNI) Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) leader Medha Patkar would be honoured with the 'Rashtriya Krantiveer Award 2008' on April 4 for her contribution to social service.
Ms Patkar would be bestowed with the award for her work for rehabilitating the displaced of the Sardar Sarovar project since the past 23 years.
The award -- instituted in the memory of freedom fighter and social activist late Ramchandra Raghuvanshi 'Kakaji' -- would be given at the 10th Rashtriya Krantiveer Award Samaroh to be organised near the holy Kshipra river.
In a statement issued here today, organising committee head Omprakash Khatri said last year the award was given to the first woman IPS officer Kiran Bedi.
