Orissa plans to set up nursery in each block:Minister
Bhubaneswar, Mar 24 (UNI) A nursery in each block would be set up in Orissa to provide seedlings to farmers at a subsidised rate for the development of horticulture in the state, Agriculture Minister Surendranath Nayak told the Assembly today.
Replying to a question of Mr Chiranjibi Biswal(Cong), the Minister said though the National Horticulture Misssion has been implemented in 24 districts of the state but common people were deprived of the benefit due to certain constraints.
The criteria that required a farmer to have minimum 2.5 acres of land to get the benefit from horticulture posed a problem in the success of horticulture in the state, he said.
Mr Nayak said the Coconut Development Scheme was in operation in 14 districts of the state.
