CPI adopts resolution on price rise, agitation on April 17,18

Hyderabad, Mar 24 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (CPI) today called upon the party and its units to organise rail roko gherao and undertake dehoarding on April 17 and 18 in the country, to protest against the increase in prices of essential commodities.

Adopting a resolution on the issue at its 20th national conference here, the CPI leaders expressed deep concern and anguish over the unbearable and unparalled price rise in the last two years.

The party urged various political parties and democratic forces to unitedly fight against the price rise.

Observing that the recent rise in the price of petroleum products had further aggravated the problems of the people, the party, in the resolution attributed the price rise to liberalization, globalisation and privatisation and the process of reckless economic reform initiated by the government one after another.

Adopting another resolution on Palestine issue, the CPI reaffirmed its support to the Palestinian people's right to establish an independent and sovereign Palestine state on all the territories occupied by Israel.

Calling upon the world to raise public opinion against the barbaric atrocities committed by Israeli forces, the Left party strongly condemned the ongoing brutal repression of the Palestinian people by Israeli military.
