6th Pay Commission recommendations are 'anti-people': CPI
Hyderabad, Mar 24 (UNI) Opposing the 'hefty' increase of salaries of higher officials at Secretary and Joint Secretary level in the Central government services, recommended by the 6th Pay Commission, CPI leader and AITUC General Secretary Gurudas Das Gupta today termed it as 'anti- people'.
Addressing the press at the venue of 20th National Conference of the CPI, he, '' poor India cannot afford to pay the highly-increased salaries. The increase was at the cost of common man's interest.'' The Commission submitted its report to Finance Minister P Chidambaram today.
Welcoming the moderate increase of salaries of third and fourth grade employees, he said, ''we strongly protest the increase of retirement age limit to 62 years and the ban on recruitment in the central departments as prescribed in the report, terming it against the interest of the unemployed youth and would not allow them to get jobs in the government services.
Strongly opposing the 'westernisation' of manpower, he said it would encourage outsourcing of the government services by stopping recruitment.
Calling upon all trade unions to protest against the report, to be considered by the Finance Ministry, which would submit its recommendations to the Union Cabinet shortly, Mr Gupta said the AITUC would write letters to all trade unions to fight against the recommendations unitedly.
